Cupcake Virgin

 Last week was my very first time making proper cupcakes!  Not the small, flat mean sort I had as a kid with smarties on top which bleed into the icing in a soggy mess, but enormous things with acres and acres of butter cream and cool toppings. (I didn’t know you could get glitter for decoration or I’d have made them sooner.)


Two things that made them really blissful were: whipping up the butter cream for a good long while – at least 15 min; scooping out part of the top and putting in a spoonful of blackcurrant jam.

It took me a good half a day but it was well wort making my own-  they were the best I’d tasted. This love affair will last a long while, me thinks…
